KayCey® Bodysuits & Why Kids That Wear Nappies Might Want One

KayCey® Bodysuits & Why Kids That Wear Nappies Might Want One

Will 17/02/2017 0
Why Might You Want a Popper Vest For an Older or Larger Child? For children that wear incontinence products life is tricky enough. The same goes for parents and carers trying to wrangle wriggly kids into their clothes every day. A good quality, hard wearing popper vest keeps nappies in place to help prevent leaks, supports a full nappy from sagging and falling off, keeps your child discreetly covered up and keeps those busy fingers and hands from places you would rather they didn’t get into (such as a full nappy). What is a Popper Vest / Bodysuit?  Very simply put, a popper vest, also known as a bodysuit is an item of clothing that has snapper studs at the crotch. They are for covering up nappies while also allowing easy changing.  Quick Start  If you don't have time to read this article you can go straight to the product pages here:  Buy a Kaycey® Polo Shirt Style Bodysuit Buy a KayCey® T-Shirt Style Bodysuit Buy a KayCey® Sleeveless Vest Style Bodysuit Who Are Larger Popper Vests For?  Any child that wears a nappy, pull-ups or incontinence pad will benefit from wearing a KayCey® Bodysuit. People with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) can sometimes have very specific needs and preferences, as no doubt you know well. Not every child with ASDs wears nappies, but there are also lots of reasons why children without ASDs might wear nappies and also benefit from a popper vest. Although kids with ASDs can be particularly sensitive, KayCey® Bodysuits have been designed to make adaptive clothing more comfortable for everyone. By taking into account the things that some kids can’t tolerate, KayCey® has a better made garment for everyone. Advantages to Getting Dressed With A KayCey® Bodysuit   It’s absolutely possible for a child to wear a nappy without a popper vest, but let’s consider the advantages of wearing one:Helps to stop children undressing inappropriatelyHelps to stop children removing nappies (or getting their hands inside them!)Keeps children discreetly covered up ...

The Complete Guide to Discreet Bedwetting Solutions for Sleepovers

The Complete Guide to Discreet Bedwetting Solutions for Sleepovers

Will 15/02/2017 0
Complete Guide to Discreetly Handling Bedwetting at Sleepovers  A few times a week we get a phone call about an upcoming sleepover. Whether it’s staying with friends or going on a school trip, sleepovers are an important and fun part of childhood. We see no reason why bedwetting should stop that. Unfortunately, for children that wet the bed, they are very often scared of attending a sleepover for pretty obvious reasons. Sometimes they might be ashamed of wetting the bed and would do anything but risk being exposed to their friends. They might also be fearful of what the adult in charge will do if there is an accident. When we get these calls it’s been difficult to recommend something specific because every child is different and have different needs. We have to find something that will help your child feel confident and secure, is effective for bedwetting and will be as discreet and leak-proof as possible. Our goal at Every Nappy has always been to take the fuss out of continence care for children. We are creating this guide to help you find the most discreet solution for your child so that they can be confident enough to enjoy sleepovers and school trips like they should be able to, feeling safe and secure in the knowledge that the products they wear won’t let them down! We have also collected bedwetting tips and tricks from other parents and presented them here. As a parent or carer you will know a lot of what we say already and it will be common sense, we hope that you will still find a few useful tips. If you are new to bedwetting or preparing for a sleepover for the first time, this guide might be really useful. It has been mentioned that Dads don’t always have this knowledge programmed in like Mums do, so maybe think of this as a Dad’s Guide to Bedwetting.  Bedwetting Problems are Different Outside The Home  You might think that whatever you are doing at home will work away from home. That’s probably true for the protective products your child wears, but there...

MoliCare Maxi - MoliCare Super Plus Is Back and It's Called MoliCare Maxi

Will 01/07/2016 0
MoliCare Maxi is the new name for the old Plastic Backed MoliCare Super Plus It's been big week for Hartmann. Aside from changing the naming convention used by their Soft Premium range of adult nappies, they are also reintroducing the extremely popular Plastic Backed MoliCare Super Plus - Except that now it's called MoliCare Maxi Slip. The MoliCare® Super Plus was always a good seller for us, many customers were devastated when Hartmann changed the design to a soft textile backed one. There are a lot of people that prefer the plastic backed version. We have heard a lot of reasons from people why they preferred the old plastic style such as: Better leg shapePlastic cover is more comfortableFewer leaksBetter odour controlAutism spectrum disorder where the user is sensitive to touchFeel more secureDoesn't stretch  The list can go on and on and I'm sure you might have your own reasons to add to the list. After the introduction of the new style textile backed MoliCare Super Plus we spoke to Hartmann to present the views of our customers, and it looks like they listened! We are very pleased to say that they have reinvented the product but with a new name, it will now be called MoliCare Maxi Slip. You can buy it from us right now, we already have stock.   What's The Difference Between MoliCare Super Plus and MoliCare Maxi?   We had a root through our samples room and were able to find some old purple plastic backed MoliCare Super Plus, and compared them to the new products we have just received.  What Stays The Same?  We compared them side by side and went through all the features. Here is what's the same: Inner leak guardsShapePaddingPlastic coverTapesCapacity Basically almost everything What's Different: ColourTapes no longer have MoliCare written on them The old super plus was a rather alarming purple colour. The new one is a bright eggshell blue colour. That's it, that's the only difference....

PASIC

PASIC

Will 01/07/2016 2
PASIC (Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children) is a registered charity based at the Nottingham Children’s Hospital.  We support families of children and young people diagnosed with cancer, leukaemia, brain tumours and other closely related illnesses who receive at least part of their treatment at the Nottingham Children’s Hospital.PASIC offers parent to parent support to families throughout the East Midlands, from as far afield as Skegness to Stoke and from North Humberside to Northamptonshire. When these illnesses are diagnosed the effect on the children and their families can be devastating.  We employ a member of staff who is at the Hospital. Our coordinator visits the wards and clinics and can offer emotional and practical support by being there and showing sensitive concern from a parent’s perspective.  There is also support available on the end of a telephone 24 hours a day to give help where and when it is needed. Because the lives of the children and families are thrown into chaos, financial help is often needed.  The support needed by each family is different and PASIC tries to offer help in whatever way it is possible. Parents may have to take time off work, often unpaid; to be with a child or young person in hospital.  The cost of frequent travel is always increasing and there can be many journeys between home and the hospital as families try to be together.  Perhaps help is needed with  the cost of an MOT to keep the family mobile; there may be increased heating and telephone bills to be met if families are spending a lot more time at home; and sometimes child-care costs are incurred for siblings left at home. PASIC has the support of its many partners within the hospital; the medical staff, the nursing staff and the social work team, to name but a few.  Working together means that we can ensure families receive the support they need.PASIC also organises family orientated annual trips and events which provide a welcome break or distraction from ...

Crinkly Nappies - How to Stop Adult Nappies From Rustling

Crinkly Nappies - How to Stop Adult Nappies From Rustling

Will 01/07/2016 2
This post is from Alice, one of our customers. Hello everyone, Alice here again. You might have already read my Spinal Cord Injury blog post. In my post, you will have read that I'm now incontinent, post RTA. It's taken me a long while to be able to talk about this to anyone outside of the hospital, trust me. Recently though, I've accepted that things are going to be this way and I just want the best protection I can possibly find. I've recently started to wear Molicare Super Plus nappies.  I wear these nappies 24/7 currently and they are the best there is (for me!). My only problem is that they're quite noisy/crinkly - probably because they have plastic backing.  It's important to note however that plastic backed nappies are the only ones that work for me - the cotton backed ones just don't. They seem to leak a lot quicker for some reason and I simply don't feel protected. I use a wheelchair so chances are nobody will hear this crinkling noise as I move. Nonetheless it still makes me paranoid! I can always seem to hear it, even when I slightly adjust my position in my wheelchair. By chance, I was wearing a dress today and tights. I was surprised why I hadn't thought of wearing tights to minimise the crinkling noise before now. I hardly heard a crinkle all day!!! I guess the tights just hold the nappy in place better. Obviously this will only work for ladies. I'm not sure how men would find this!! I obviously won't be wearing tights every day and they do have their cons also. Changing takes a lot longer when wearing tights and also wearing them with jeans/trousers I think would be a nightmare. It's a solution though for important occasions eg weddings or birthday parties or nights out when you just want the extra crinkle minimised! Maybe someone else has a better idea? Love Alice Note from Every Nappy - Although Alice didn't get on with them, we have products with soft paper (like cotton) backing. The MoliCare Soft-All-in-One range is almost completely silent and w...

Size 7 Nappies For Bigger Or Older Children | Bigger Nappies Compared

Will 01/07/2016 115
Very Quick Start If you came here because you want to buy size 7 nappies, or even bigger than size 7, click on the correct image below to go to the product page.Buy Size 7 NappiesBuy Size 8 Nappies (Equivalent)    Buy Size 9 Nappies (Equivalent) Size 7 Nappies For Bigger Children  New - Absorbency Comparison Video   Asda Little Angels Size 6+ Pampers Size 6+ MoliCare Extra Size XS The size 7 nappies available in the UK are from Libero, but are tricky to find. Pampers have a size 6+ which is new in the market, and Asda have had a size 6+ available for a while. We sell the MoliCare XS which is an adult nappy that has been sized down for children. This article compares the options.  Developmental issues and disabilities can often mean that a child is in nappies for longer than we would want. We have had a couple of customers recently that called us out of desperation seeking a bigger nappy for their child. We were able to help and I thought some parents might find this article useful. A quick note; your community nurse, doctor or continence advisor is the best person to speak to for advice. If you are concerned about your child's continence development, speak to a medical professional as a first port of call.  What Options Are There For Nappies For Older Children? Pampers Underjams for Girls With Booster Pad 8-12 Years It is not uncommon for your child to outgrow the standard nappy sizes that are available in the shops. The Pampers Size 6+ is the largest nappy available in most supermarkets. Although the actual maximum body weight of child that the size 6+ is suitable for is not written on the pack, we believe it to be around 27Kg (60lbs or 4¼ Stone). Many parents choose to go straight on to the Drynites or Underjams products which are bed wetting pants for older children.  The disadvantage here is that you might want a more convenient way to change the nappy without completely undressing your child. Some children need a nappy that is more absorbent than the Drynites ...

Washable Bedwetting Pants | Get Rid Of Nappies at Night

Will 01/07/2016 2
There is a newer article on this subject with more information. Please click here to read our Nappy Free Guide to Bedwetting  Quick Start There are 3 washable products we would recommend for over night use. 1) Upsey Daisy Training Pants - Suitable for younger children or those that have a lighter bedwetting problem (boys and girls styles)2) Upsey Daisy Unisex Nighttime Briefs - Suitable for heavier bedwetting but very discreet3) Upsey Daisy Unisex Nighttime Shorts - Our most absorbent washable bedwetting product Washable Training Pants for Bedwetting Ages 2 - 12 We have decided to write this article because of the number of parents we have had buying our disposable adult nappies in children's sizes, and because of a couple of phone calls we received recently.Although the Abena Abri Form Junior XS2 bedwetting nappies are very effective, some parents will find the ongoing cost of such disposable products too much. They are usually not appropriate for older children anyway, and as your child gets older and is looking forward to school trips or sleepovers at friends houses, they will probably find the idea of pull-up disposable products or nappies for bedwetting less appealing.A customer called us recently to ask which product we would recommend for their child who was going away with the school football team. The position of this parent and child is tricky. You can imagine the thoughts of the child, they either conceal Drynites or Underjams (disposable bedwetting pants available from most supermarkets) or risk wetting the bed.Well there is another solution. We sell the Upsey Daisy range of children's washable incontinence pants. They are available in styles for girls and boys and are the only washable products that we could comfortable recommend for over night protection. There are three designs, one is more of a training pants that has a lower absorbency level but is also suitable for daytime accidents, one is a unisex short design and the others are briefs av...

What Is A Kylie® Sheet? | Kylie® Bed Pads Explained

What Is A Kylie® Sheet? | Kylie® Bed Pads Explained

Will 01/07/2016 12
What Is A Kylie® Bed Pad? It's exactly how it sounds. A Kylie® Bed Pad is placed on top of the sheets, but under the duvet, and is highly absorbent, washable and with a waterproof backing. This allows you to keep your mattress clean and cut down on time consuming sheet washing and changing.I worked in a nursing home very briefly after leaving school before starting my first job. The residents at the nursing home would all sleep on a Kylie® Bed Pad. It's clear why such a product would find a place in a nursing home. Roughly, there are 3 great benefits for anyone:The Kylie® absorbs urine away from the skin which keeps skin healthyThe Kylie® can be quickly changed and washed, cutting down on time consuming bedding changesKylie® Bed Pads are washable and reusable, so save lots of money over their life The original pad design was created over thirty years ago, and was so successful that the name Kylie® has become synonymous with washable bed pads, but not every washable bed pad is a Kylie®. The design has been continually improved over the years but the principal remains the same. The 5 layer design is carefully constructed to keep urine away from the skin. The top layer is highly absorbent in one direction only, and repels water from the other direction. So as urine gets on to the top layer it is quickly absorbed through, and not allowed back. The second layer is made from spun fibres which distribute the urine over a larger area. Remember that at this point it can't get back through the top layer. The third layer is also highly absorbent. This draws the moisture down from the sharing layer so that the capacity for more urine isn't lost.Under that we have an impermeable layer. This is the waterproof material that prevents the urine seeping through into the bed.The 5th layer is the backing material. This is designed to be non-slip so that the pad doesn't move around during the night. These layers combined make the Kylie® Bed Pad a very effective tool for abso...

Over Active Bladder Syndrome

Over Active Bladder Syndrome

Will 01/07/2016 0
What is Overactive Bladder Syndrome? Overactive Bladder Syndrome is an issue that can be identified by several key symptoms. These include:A sudden, urgent need to pass urine that cannot be postponedNeeding to use the toilet more than seven times in one dayNeeding to use the toilet more than once at night (known as Nocturia)Approximately 1 in 3 people affected by Overactive Bladder Syndrome also suffer from Urge Incontinence (this is a passing of urine that happens before being able to get to the toilet)Not at all a rare condition, it has been found that roughly 17% of adults show symptoms of Overactive Bladder Syndrome to varying extents. What are the causes of Overactive Bladder Syndrome? Overactive Bladder Syndrome can be caused by problems with the muscles in the walls of the bladder resulting in sudden contractions that leave a sufferer without full bladder control. These are called detrusor muscles, and if they contract (as they are meant to when allowing normal toilet use) too often an urge to pass urine is created.Various possible reasons for this detrusor overactivity may include:Overconsumption of alcohol or caffeineUrinary tract infectionsConstipation What can be done to alleviate the symptoms of Overactive Bladder Syndrome? There are various options available in the treatment of Overactive Bladder Syndrome, ranging from surgical to non-surgical methods.Much of the time the precise cause of Overactive Bladder Syndrome is unknown, although if it develops as the result of an underlying condition it is important to seek treatment for this issue first.Sometimes treatments in which medication or surgery are not necessary are all that is needed to resolve the problem of an overactive bladder. These can be as straightforward as simple changes in lifestyle (such as watching your intake of caffeine and alcohol). In up to 50% of cases of Overactive Bladder Syndrome, treatment known as Bladder Training works well and often solves the problem. Pelvic floor exercises ar...
